Course Description
The structure of a feature film is your road map to the action and meat of your film. You know the old saying, "If you don't know where you are going, you'll go anywhere?" It is absolutely the truth! It is also not a good thing to do with a film, it becomes too difficult to follow, and we all have seen a film that lost its map. They ramble on, lack direction, the characters seem to wander around not quite knowing what to do, and it just creates a hot mess!
In this class we will get very clear about the plot points of the film, acts, rises, falls, and underlying elements, pacing and themes. This is the meat of screenwriting, and understanding structure is essential to utilizing the characters to get your point across in your story. Every good film as a point and an underlying theme that drives the delivery of your action. We will cover all of this in this class through forensic examination of film and exercises.
